Have you ever looked in the mirror and thought, what happened to me? What happened to my memory, my creativity, my get up and go. Just got up and went. I used to be so sharp, so on it ideas flowing, memory crisp, energy high, and now. If you're rereading the same email five times, if you walk into a room and forget why you're there, if you pay a bill more than once, or forget to pay it, if the creativity you once poured into your work has slowed to a trickle, then maybe late at night in the quiet moments of deeper fear whispers, is this just aging? Am I losing my edge for good? If any of that feels a little too familiar, I want you to take a breath. You're not broken, you're not in decline. You're in depletion. in today's episode, I'll show you what's really going on beneath that brain fog and self-doubt, and how to start clearing the energetic weight that's been dimming your brilliance. I know this pattern that I described intimately because I've lived it. There was a time during the worst phase of my burnout when I'd run into someone I knew, or worse, they greeted me by name and I drew a blank. No name, no context, just a blank mind where a shared history used to be. At first I thought it was just a coincidence or a momentary brain glitch, But then it started happening more and more. I'd sit down to write up my research, something I did with ease. That usually lights me up. But then nothing, no words, no spark, no clarity. It would just come out as a confused, disorganized jumble. It felt like someone short circuited my mind, and no matter how hard I tried to reconnect the circuits, it stayed dark and inaccessible and the scariest part. I started to believe maybe this was just how it is from now on. Maybe I'd crossed that age where brilliance fades And the best of me and my mind were behind me, and then something inside me whispered, you're too young for this to happen. Maybe it isn't decline. Maybe I had a chance to get me back so I did something radical. Instead of driving hard with my aspirations and goals to keep going, something I had always done, I stopped. I stepped away. I gave myself the space to breathe, to heal, to just be. Every time I thought I wasn't doing anything, I had to remind myself that rest was a verb. I'm resting now. I was doing something important for my nervous system, my mind, and my emotional wellbeing Gradually, not overnight, but faster than I expected. Something amazing happened. My memory returned. My creativity didn't just trickle back. It roared in like a tidal wave. My edge, my get up and go, my drive, that part of me that I feared had lost, had been waiting patiently, beneath all that exhaustion. It wasn't gone. It was buried. So let me ask you, with so much compassion, if you've been feeling that same flicker of fear, that maybe your edge is slipping away. What if it's not lost at all? what if the you that you were is still waiting in there, waiting for you to let you free? Here's what I want you to hear, really hear. When you feel like you're losing your edge, when your memory's slipping, your creativity feels bone dry, you can't seem to finish what you start, you're not in decline. You're in depletion. What's happening in your body and in your energy field is a full system response to burnout. You can still get up in the morning and do things, but that enthusiasm, that fire and that delight in your activities has dimmed. You didn't get knocked out cold, but it snuck up on you like a slow, dull burn just beneath the surface. You might have been a high achiever and think you can handle it all, but this slow burn builds up over time. When you push through the stress without a true reset, when you hold space for everyone else, but never get space held for you. When you override your body's whispers with just one more task, just one more day again and again, eventually that constant output takes a toll. And the symptoms start to show up, not just emotionally, but physically and mentally too. You might be experiencing foggy thinking or forgetfulness like your brain's running through molasses, loss of sharpness or focus difficulty generating new ideas, no matter how hard you try. Waking up tired even after a full night's sleep. A sensitivity to noise light, or decision making, low grade infections that linger, or your body getting stuck in low gear. Apathy, not because you don't care, but because you're spent. And the truth is your nervous system isn't fine. Neither is your body's energy systems, including your energy field, your subtle energy channels, also called your meridians and chakras, and your physical systems, including your adrenal glands, your liver, thyroid, and even your mitochondria. Burnout isn't just mental exhaustion. It's a breakdown in your body's ability to recover and regulate. That includes your immune system, your hormone balance, your brain chemistry, all of it. And energetically you're carrying more than just tasks. You're carrying emotional labor, unmet grief, expectations that aren't yours, and they're clogging your inner circuits. Even a low grade undiagnosed infection can slow your brain and body down when you're already running on fumes. It's not a mindset problem. It's not a calendar problem or time management problem. It's not an organizational problem. Sometimes it's literally that your system never had the time or support to reset. so, no, my friend. This is not the beginning of the end. It's your body waving a flag, asking for rest, for restoration, and repair. If you're wondering, is this really burnout? Burnout doesn't always look like a breakdown. Sometimes it looks like feeling disconnected from your work and even the parts you used to love. Procrastinating, not because you're lazy, but because your mind is too tired to organize a thought. When someone asks you a simple favor and you feel like it's insurmountable. You might even be snapping at your loved ones and then feeling shame afterwards. Second guessing yourself constantly feeling like no matter how much you sleep or meditate or even lay down to rest, you're still running on empty. You might notice you're isolating yourself from others more. You're staying home instead of going out or comparing yourself to who you used to be and wondering if you're ever coming back to yourself. These are not character flaws. They're signals, messages from your system that you've been carrying too much for too long. and recognizing these signs are not defeat. It's the first step to your recovery. So what can you actually do when you feel this way? Let's start here. Stop chasing your old pace. The truth is that pace, the hustle, the hyper productivity, the habit of pushing through is what got you here. You don't need to do more. You need to clear space to give your nervous system a chance to exhale. That starts with releasing what's weighing you down, and often It's not just the to-do list, it's the invisible emotional labor, the energetic residue you've picked up from clients, colleagues, partners, or even your past. It's the pressure to be everything to everyone and NO you don't have to fix all of that overnight. You can do these two things to get started. First, when you get up in the morning, look at your to-do list and decide. What can you do without? You don't have to do without right now. Fewer things are necessary than you might think. Sit still. Take some deep breaths with your eyes closed. See what you might be able to eliminate that doesn't have a big impact on you and your business. At the end of your workday, sit still for just 90 seconds. Place your hand on your heart. Take some nice deep breaths and gently ask yourself, how did I overextend myself today? At first, you don't have to change it. Just notice it. Because the awareness is the first layer of healing.
